Ginseng which was applied for preventing and curing disease as early as before more than 2,000 years in China and held important and the special status in the Far East medicine history was the root of Panax ginseng C.A.Meyer(Araliaceae). The red ginseng was one kind of processed products of China ginseng which contained Liaodong ginseng and Changbai ginseng as quality goods and distributed over the area of ancient Liaohe River, it was obtained from fresh ginseng which was steamed and dried.Ginseng saponins which were main active constitutents in ginseng and maintained physiological activity of crude ginseng preparation were mainly sorted to panoxadiol saponin, panaxatriol saponin and oleum saponin, and more than 40 different ginsenosides have been identified.A series of research which serve as the theroies and scientific methods which explaining process principle of ginseng establishing contment storage between crude and prepared herb and fingerprint of mass of herb, normalizing process of ginseng and exploring the reaction mechanism of combition of ginseng with Schisandra Chinensis have been systemtically studied ,such as the process of ginseng ,the changement of ginsenosides between crude and prepared ginseng, the fragment pathways of saponins just belong to red ginseng, the changes of ginsenosides in combition of ginseng with Schisandra Chinensis by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), electrospray ionization multi-stage tandem mass spectrometry(ESI), transonic- -colourimetry etc.The orthogonal design was adopted firstly to optimize transonic abstaction-colorimetric extracts and ginseng process method by high performance liquid chromatography and colormetry. The optimum ginseng process technology conditions are as follows: Fresh ginseng were roasted for ten hours at 70℃ after steamed for three hours. The optimum transonic extraction conditions are as follows: adding water saturated butanol into ginseng, transonic extracted two times and for 60 minutes each time. The change of ginsenosides between crude and prepared ginseng have been studied by Lipuid Chromatography-Electrospray Inonization Mass Spectrometry. The result shows that the ratio of malonylated ginsenosides and acetylated ginsenosides is reduced and corresponding ginsenosides in the red ginseng compared with the white form. The fragment pathways of saponins Rh1, Rh2, Rg3 have been studied by Lipuid Chromatography-Electrospray Inonization Mass Spectrometry. The result shows a certain fragment pathways of these saponins. The changes of ginsenosides in combition of ginseng with Schisandra Chinensis have been studied firstly by Lipuid Chromatography-Electrospray Inonization Mass Spectrometry. The result shows that ginsenoside Rg1, Re, Rb1, Rc, Rb2, Rd were hydrolyzed at a little content of schisandra and with the increasing content of schisandra , the content of ginsenosideRo decreased and the content of ginsenosideF2 increased.
