Objective: To investigate the correlation of grade and growth with angiogenesis in astrocytomas, and trying to find a method that can evaluate the angiogenesis of tumors by dynamic contrast medium enhanced MRI(DCE-MRI).Methods:51 Cases of astrocytomas were collected in retrospection or prospection, which were proved by pathology after surgery.Among them,32 cases were collected retrospectively and 19 cases prospectively. The cases finded in retrospection were scaned by MRI with transverse SE-T1WI,SE-T2WI and coronal or sagittal TSE-T2WI.The cases finded in prospection were scaned with SE-T1WI,SE-T2WI and dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI(DCE-MRI) with FLASH.Hematoxylin and eosin(H&E) and immunohistochenmical staining were performed in each specimen. The semiquantitative microvessel density(MVD) and vascular endothelial cell growth factor (VEGF) were got by immunohistochenmical staining, and the index of edema(IE) and the index of necrosis(IN) were got by T2WI.Correlative studies were done between histologic grade, semiquantitative MVD,VEGF and the other parameters. In retrospective cases,time-signal intensity curve(T-SI curve) were got by DCE-MRI with FLASH.Gotting the parameters related, and then Correlative studies were done between them and semiquantitative MVD,VEGF resectively. Results: The capillary vessels were uneven in spatial distribution, concentrated in rim , sparse even blank in zone of necrosis. There were statistically significant positive correlations between histologic grade and MVD,VEGF,IE,IN respectively. The higher correlation, however, were between histologic grade and IE,IN respectively (P < 0.01) .But not obvious significant correlations existed between MVD and VEGF,IE,IN respectively (P>0.05) .VEGF and IE,IN showed positive significant correlated,IN and MVD/VEGF showed negatively (P<0.01) .In retrospective cases which scaned with DCE-MRI additionally, showed that:There were statistically significant positive...
