| Angelica Extract â… (AE â… ) was the most effective one in the four extracts of angelica sinensis (â… , â…¡, â…¢, â…£) by evaluating their antalgic effects .The effects of AE â… on dysmenorrhea , the mechanism of action and its acute toxicity were preliminarily studied in the paper.The results indicated that dysmenorrhea induced by oxytocin in mice and rats and pain caused by acetic acid in mice were obviously inhibited by lessening markedly the times of twisting and prolonging the aching latent time, and the normal uterine smooth muscles in rats and the spasmus ones induced by oxytocin in rats and mice were significantly relaxed by reducing the uterine smooth muscles' contraction strength, frequency and activity following AE â… treatment, which showed AE â… could relieve pain and relax uterine smooth muscles.The exudation of peritoneum caused by acetic acid in mice, paw edema caused by egg protein, granuloma caused by implanted cotton-pellet and uterine inflammation caused by plastics tube in rats were all obviously inhibited by administration of AE â… , which showed AE â… could inhibit inflammation in earlier and later stage.Wet weight of blood clotting in mice and platelet aggregation percentage in vitro in rabbits were obviously reduced, while clotting time in... |
