[Objective] To investigate the status of indoor smoke pollution and determinants of exposure by women and children in rural areas in Guizhou province and Shanxi province represented by using coal and in Gansu and Neimeng province represented by using biomass fuel. To analyze the factors impacting the exposure to indoor smoke and find out the emphasis and model of intervention, then provide science data for setting down the strategy of following intervention.[Methods] Three countryside of Xinpu, Dexin and Xinba of Guiding county in Guizhou province, two countryside of Shizhuan and Hongshan of Hanbin county in Shanxi province, Three countryside of Mayan and Jialin of Huixian county in Gansu province and two countryside of Dahongchen and Xindianzi of Helingeer county in Neimeng autonomous region are chosen as research fields. Separately 150 households per countryside (300 households in Hongshan countryside) are randomly selected as investigated objects. In school at countryside, at least 150 students of grade 3 to grade 5 are wholly and randomly selected by the unit of class as investigated objects.
