| Objective: To evaluate the preventive effect of genistein by regional perfusion in intimal thickening and VSMCs proliferation and to research the restenosis-preventing mechanism of genistein after balloon angioplasty.Materials and Methods: Thirty male pure breed New Zealand white rabbits, with a mean weight of 2.0-2.3 kilogram, were cathetered trans right carotid artery, and underwent experimental balloon injury in right common carotid artery. Then the rabbits were randomly allocated into treatment group(n=15) and control group(n =15). Genistein was perfused in carotid artery with 0.5mg/ml in treatment group immediatedly after injury.
