Objective: To observe the clinical effect and the improvement of quality of life on Huo Bo Decoction treating chronic pelvic inflammatory disease of the syndrome of stagnant dampness-heat and blood stasis. Methods: 64 cases of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease were divided into two groups randomly; the treatment group and control group, which contained 33 cases and 31cases respectively. The treatment group was treated with Huo Bo Decoction. The control group was treated with Jin Gang Teng Capsule. After treated by four weeks, clinical efficiency. clinical symptoms, physical signs and the score of World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale-Brief Form Questionnaire ( WHOQOL-BREF) were observed . Results: The total effective rate of the treatment group and control group was 90.91% and 87.10% respectively, there was no statistical difference between two groups (P>0.05); the effective rate of clinical symptoms with two groups was 96.97% and 87.10% respectively, there was statistically significant difference between two groups (P<0.05); the difference of physical sign scores before and after the treatment was 5.94±2.45 and 5.10±2.23 respectively, there was no statistical difference between two groups (P>0.05).
