Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is one of the most common malignant tumors and threatening people's health seriously. The aim of this topic is to establish a elementary model from screening Chinese herbal medicine in vitro and to choose the effective,non-poisonous and cheap medicine in the aspect of curing the NPC. Recently many NPC cell lines have been screened in China, for example, CNE-1,CNE-2,SUNE-1 and 5-8F et al. We used the technique of the cell biology and the molecular biology such as MTT method,ATP method, flow cytometer (FCM) method and electronic microscope method to establish the elementary model in the basic of these cell lines. Through the model, we had tried to make the Chinese herbal medicine [tea polyphenol (TP),co ix seed extract(KLT),astragalus root] to inhibit the growth of NPC cells (CNE-1,CNE-2,SUNE-1 and 5-8F) and to induce apoptosis of NPC cells. In MTT and ATP method, TP could not inhibit the growth of NPC cells in low concentration, but inhibit them in high concentration in this research. The inhibition was dose-dependent,the time-dependent trend was not obvious in 7 days, KLT could inhibit the growth of NPC cells and the inhibition was dose-dependent. But the time-dependent trend was not obvious in 7 days, either. The astragalus root could not inhibit the growth of NPC cells. In FCM method, TP could make NPC cells less in the period of G1 and more in the period of S, so few of cells could reach the period of G2/M. The extent of blockage was time-dependent in 48 hours. KLT could make NPC cells less in the period of G2/M, the extent of blockage was time-dependent in 48 hours, too. In electronic microscope method,...
