Exploratory Development Of Coaching Method In Elevating The Head-nurse's Communication Ability

Objective:Through coaching for the head-nurse, it will be found that what effect the coaching has on the head-nurse's communication ability .And then explor a valid way to elevate the head-nurse's communication ability.Methods: Research object is fifty-eight head-nurses from the first hospital of Shan Xi Medical University . Vice-director A,B and independently managed one team . A team involved 22 head-nurses, B involved 22 and there was 14 in C team . Using randomised method , every team was separated into the intervention group and the control group, A vice-director coaching 10, B coaching 10 , C coaching 9 . Before the coaching put into practice , use the attached table 1 to measure the head-nurses'ability by themselves and the three superintendent of nursing department used table 2 to evaluate the head-nurses for knowing what degree their ability is . Then , the superintendent of nursing department coaching the head-nurses for six months.When the coaching is over , use the two tables to measure the ability of the head-nurses again and compare the results of the two groups to draw a conclusion that whether the head-nurses'ability is increased or not .Results: Adopt attached table 1 and attached table 2 have the same results of measurement the communication ability of the head-nurse accepting the coaching . 1 The incipient ability of the participants have an effect on the results,(P<0.001) the head-nurse who has a high first-score will have more scores. 2.The significant difference was detected between the experiment group and the control group . ( P<0.001) 3.Their length of service and ages have no conspicuous effect on their ability (P>0.05). The first scores have effect on the second scores . ( P<0.0001) 4 The significant difference was detected between the intervention group and the control group ( P<0.0001) .Conclusions:Attached table 1 and attached table 2 have the same results . It is showed that after accepting six-month-coaching ,the head-nurse's communication skills have been elevated and the coaching can improve this kind of ability in shortly time . This experiment provides a basic for the using of the coaching in the nurse supervision .
