Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of enteral nutrition for predicted severe acute pancreatitis patients(APACHEⅡ≥6). Methods The following electronic database were searched : Chinese Biomedcine database(CBM) , chinese journal full-text database(CJFD) , MEDLINE , EMBASE, Cochrane Library . Data were searched and extracted by two reviewers respectively . RevMan 4.1 was applied for statistical analysis. Results Six randomized trials comparing the use of entral nutrition with parenteral nutrition in pancreatitis patients'(APACHEⅡ≥6) outcome met our inclusion-exclusion critera. Combined analysis indicated that the use of enteral nutrition decreased septic complication events (pooled OR was 0.28, 95%CI [0.06,0.41],P=0.0002) , MOF events (pooled OR was 0.15, 95%CI [0.06,0.41],P=0.0002); But the use of entral nutrition indicated no significant difference in mortality (pooled OR was 0.39,95%CI[0.12,1.32],P=0.13).Conclusions Enteral nutrition was associated with decreasing of infectious rates, MOF events. There was no significant difference in hosital mortality between the enteral and toal parentral nutrition groups.
