Ojective: Cornea is the tissure of immune privilege and corneal transplantation is one of the most successful forms of organ transplantations. In recent years, people find the immune privilege have a relevance to apoptosis: Apoptosis of infiltrating cells on the tissure resulting from Fas-FasL interaction plays an important role in the immune privilege and immune acceptance. The expression of Fas ligand (FasL) in the corneal epithelium and endothelium has been proposed to be an important component of ocular immune privilege. The most obvious explanation is that FasL expressed on the cornea can kill Fas+ lymphoid cells that invade these areas bofore these Fas+ lymphoid cells are activated fully. FasL expression on the corneal epithelium and endothelium of grafts plays an important role in the high success rate of corneal transplantation. Although there is a high success rate of corneal transplantation, the immunologic rejection is yet a difficult problem in limbal stem cell and corneal transplantation. If there is a modest increase in the FasL expression on dornor grafts, the immunologic rejection will be lightened and the immune acceptance will be improved. This experiment detects the expression and distribution of FasL...
