Objectives: Ischemic cerebral vascular disease is one of the common disease that induces neuron injury. The pathophsiological mechanism of ischemic neuronal injury is complex and unclear, perhaps it includes the generation and the injury of free radical, the toxic action of excitatory amino acid, the damage of leucocytes in inflammation, the increasing in intracellular calcium and others. The studies on mechanism of the damage have been paid more attention to oxidation damage of free radicals and second damage by inflammatory leucocytes in recent years. Melatonin is the principal secretory product of the pineal gland, and it has been shown that Melatonin is a potent free radical scavenger, which plays an antioxidative role. The other studies on melatonin have proved that it could inhibit the immersion of leucocytes in myocardial ischemia has proved the effect of melatonin, and could suppress the neutrophil infiltration in an experimental acute and chronic models of trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid-induced colitis in Wistar rats. But melatonin could inhibit the leucocyte infiltration in focal cerebral ischemia or not has not been reported. The present study uses the following methods, such as hematoxylin-eosin staining(HE), immunohistochemistry staining for labeling the...
