Objective: To study the combination diagnostic and prognostic value of serum neopterin (Npt) , cardiac troponin-T(cTn-T) in patients with acute coronary syndromes(ACS).Methods: were assessed the diagnostic value of serum levels of Nptand cTn-T in 87 sequential patients with chest pain by a commercially available enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) method. The patients , diagnosed by history , electrocardiogram (ECG).other markers of serum and coronary arteriography ( CAG ) , included myocardial infarction group(n=20), unstable angina group(n-28), stable angina pectoris group(n=20), and noncardiac chest pain group(n=19). We studied the incidece of adverse cardiovascular events during three months follow-up. Statistical evaluation was performed with SPSS 12.0 software. Results: Both patients with AMI and UAP showed elevated serum levelsof Npt compared with patients with SAP and noncardiac chest pain, highest serum levels of cTn-T was found significantly in patients with AMI in all groups. Higher serum levels of cTn-T was obviously found in patients with UAP than in SAP ,and there was no statistically difference between them. Detection rate of Npt was high but the specificity of them was low. The sensitivity of cTn-T was low but the specificity of them was high. The Detection rate is remarkably high when the two serum indexes combined used. The rate of adverse cardiovascular events in ACS patients with higher serum level of Npt increased than the low during 90 days follow-up.
