Photosensitizer is very important in photodynamic therapy (PDT). Generally, its efficence has been relatively low due to the high hydrophobic property of photosentizers. In this paper, a novel polycarbonate owning pendant hydroxyl groups was strategically designed in order to solve the above-mentioned disadvantage. This kind of polycarbonate not only has good biocompatibilities and biodegradabilities, but also makes for antibody linking with polymer chains. The main research results in this paper are showed as following:Firstly, a novel six-membered cyclic carbonate with protected hydroxyl groups (9-phenyl-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro-[5,5]undecane-3-one) was synthesized from tetramethylolmethane, benzaldehyde and ethyl choroformate. This process is of safety, low costs and high yield.Secondly, homopolymerization and copolymerization of 9-phenyl-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro-[5,5]undecane-3-one was carried out...
