Objective The subcutaneous fat not only has intimate relationship to material metabolism of organism, but also acts as the major components of human body, accounting 2/3 of the total fat store. The skin-fold thickness can be used to presume the body fat content and reflect the distribution and developmental state of the subcutaneous fat of human beings. The study of the development and the developmental tendency of skin-fold thickness of students will provide materials for the subjects of sitology, medical science, anthropology, physical exercises and physical training, as well as offer the theory basis for instituting the national nutrition educational program. Additionally, the fat content in vivo is one of the precise methods for obesity determination. The obesity problems of students have been drawn more and more attentions, which may induce many kinds of diseases including hypertension, coronary cardiac disease, diabetes mellitus and cholelithiasis et al. The purpose of this research was to know the current developmental state and the 10-year-developmental tendency of skin-fold thickness of the students in Dalian City, and comprehend the current state and trend of the popularity of overweight and obesity of Dalian students, applying the method of obesity determination by body fat content calculating from skin-fold thickness, in order to provide basis for investigating the growth and development of students, improving the nutritional condition and instituting...
