Background and Object Cervical cancer is one of the most common malignant neoplasms among women. The 5-year survival for patients with early stage disease is over 70%. While it is generally accepted that either radical surgery or radiotherapy can achieve cure for the majority of patients with early stage cervical cancer , there is no standard approach to the patients with bulky disease, whose prognosis remains very poor in spite of the therapeutic advances achieved in recent years. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy has been used as part of the multidiscip linary treatment before either operation or radiation therapy. Although the approach still had many controversies, numerous studies have supported its effectiveness in bulky cervical cancer. The present study was conducted to explore whether neoadjuvant chemotherapy could improve the operability and pathological response rate in â…  B2- â…¡ A bulky cervical cancer patients.Method Between 2002 and 2005, 11 untreated patients with bulky cervical carcinoma â…  B2 and â…¡A , as study group , were given neoadjuvant chemotherapy with cisplatin , 5-fluorouracil and bleomylin for one cycle followed by radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy ; 21 patients with â…  B2 and â…¡A cervical carcinoma ,as control group , were directly treated with radical surgery .The tumor size , depth of stromal invasion, lymph node metastasis, involvement of surgical specimens , the blood loss during operation and the time of operation were assessed after operation between the two groups .Result A total of 11 cases clinical response (72.73%) were recorded , There is no case complete remission . Between the ratio of the lymph node metastasis (63.63%) , deep stromal invasion (9.09%) , lymphovascular...
