Composite resin is a kind of dental material which has been widely used in dental restoration. With its good bio-compatibility,esthetic effects and acceptable mechanical properties, especially with the improvement of mechanical properties, composite resin is more widely applied today. But some problems are still not well solved such as secondary caries at the margins of composite resin. Inorganic antimicrobial material is thought highly of because of its excellent performance. If inorganic antimicrobial can be applied to composite resin, secondary caries maybe is solved on composite resin. This paper reviewed the domestic and overseas studies of composite resin and inorganic antimicrobial, and studied the antibacterial activities, physical and chemical performance of composite resin after adding inorganic antimicrobial. The experimental data can be applied for antimicrobial odontal restoration material in clinic.Experiment One. The Comparison of the Antibacterial Activity on Oral Pathogens of Three Nano-Silver Based Inorganic Antibacterial Agents. To coMpare the antibacterial activities of three nano-silver based inorganic antibacterial agents(GKJ-R, Conval PAg-40, TiO2/Ag) on oral pathogens. The oral pathogens of Streptococcu mutants(ATCC140), Lactobacillus(ATCC393), Actinomyces viscosus(ATCC19246),Candida Albicans(ATCC25261) were selected. Minimal bactericidal concentration(MBC) of the inorganic antibacterial agents was detected by liquid dilution method. The results showed that nano-silver based inorganic antibacterial agents had well bactericidal activities against oral Pathogens. The general antibacterial activities of three types were nearly equal. It is possible that nano-silver based inorganic antibacterial agents may be used in dental antibacterial materials.
