Calcium phosphate bone cement (CPC) has been used in clinic for its better biocompatibility and bone conductibility. Traditional CPC show a low level of degradation when it was implanted into body and resides in bone defect region as foreign matter due to its high degree of crystallization level and structure stability. In addition, CPC has other weakness, for example, low mechanical strength; higher friability and weak bone induction effect. Strontium (Sr) containing CPC, Which was producded by the Sr replaced part of the Calcium (Ca) of the calcium phosphate [Ca10(PO4)5(OH)2] is a new cement for bone restoration, Some researches demonstrated that strontium containing CPC has many superiority over traditional CPC. As a new type of bone cement strontium containing CPC must provides fitting biodegradation rate, mechanical properties comparable to bone and good biocompatibility In this studies, the physical properties, degradation rate in muscle, and biocompatibility of four CPC with different containing were evaluate. The conclusions are as follows:1. the effects of strontium content on the physical property of CPCThe optimal mixing ratio of power to liquid was firstly determined, and then the effects of strontium content on the compressive strength, initial and final setting time of CPC were evaluated. The results showed that there is an optimum power to liquid ratio for each cement paste with an excellent workability and setting time. The initial and final setting time of four cements...
