BackgroundImproved therapeutic options for hepatocellular carcinoma and metastatic disease place greater demands on diagnostic and surveillance tests for liver disease. Existing diagnostic imaging techniques provide limited evaluation of tissue characteristics beyond morphology; perfusion imaging of the liver has potential to improve this shortcoming.Purpose:1. To quantify Gd-DTPA concentration, which is essential for calculating MR perfusion imaging, from signal intensity (SI) using Volume Interpolated Body Examination (VIBE) sequence with Total Imaging Matrix (TIM) receiver, and to build up the methods of whole liver MR perfusion imaging(MRPI) and optimize the associated scanning techniques.2. To determine the ability of whole-liver MRPI to detect VX2 tumor on rabbit liver3. To investigate the ability of whole-liver MR perfusion imaging (MRPI) to early detect coagulative necrosis changes after percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) in rabbit liver VX2 tumors.4. To probe the ability of whole-liver MRPI to identify malignant nodules in the liver cirrhosis through primary clinical study.
