Background AIDS is an acquired immunodeficiency syndrome in human resulting from the infection of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).With HIV infected, the human immune system are impaired seriously and the body has many kinds of complications, generally in digest, respire and never system and so on, with clinically serious opportunistic infection and malignant tumor. Recently the literatures reported that the cardiovascular system are also often involved, and the morbidity are about 28%~73%. Of cardiovascular complications, the dysfunction of ventricle is the most common and probably most importmant complication in HIV-infected impatients. Althrough some patients' dysfunction of the ventricle could restore naturally, it actually has to do with the poor prognosis.Although the prevalence of AIDS is poor in our country, the number of HIV-infected patients is fairly big with the very large population. In addition, many patients are infected through rewarding blood donations and now are on the prime of their life, and the majority is main family labour power. So it is very importmant to exactally assess the function of left ventricle in HIV-infected patients in time for the clinic treatment and the management improvement of HIV-infected patients. However, the systematic study for the status of dysfunction of left ventricle in HIV-infected patients in our country is rare at present.
