There are three parts in our study. Part 1: Dynamic changes of excitatory amino acid (EAA) in some brain areas after spinal cord injury (SCI); Part 2: Experimental study on effect of EPO for EAA in brain; part 3: Experimental study on effect of EPO for neural cells apoptosis in spinal cord after SCI. Abstract of each part described below:Part 1: Dynamic changes of excitatory amino acid in some brain areas after spinal cord injury by MicrodialysisObjective: To explore the characteristics of excitatory amino acid after spinal cord injury. Methods: Use probe of microdialysis to collect content of EAA in some brain areas before injury 1h and after 0.5h,2h,6h,24h,72h injury. Results: Both amino acid level of experiment animals significantly increase at 0.5h after SCI, especially Glu concentrations increase to(402±10)% of the baseline and Asp concentrations increase to(642±7)% of the baseline. And then appear to decline after 6h, at 24h resume normal approximately. Conclusions: The present findings suggest that spinal cord damage might influence brain EAA level significantly.Part 2: Experimental study on effect of EPO for excitatory amino acid in brainObjective: To investigate the influence of erythropoietin(EPO) to EAA of brain after SCI in rats. Methods: Rats were randomized into two groups, including SCI group, SCI group...
