ObjectiveNowadays, accompanying with the widespread application of general anesthesia for the induced abortion, anesthesiologists pay close attentions to the efficacy and safety of general anesthesia for the special group, the women in first trimester pregnancy. In order to seek an ideal method of general anesthesia for induced abortion, this research aimed to determine the 50% effect-site concentration of propofol for success of abortion surgery(ECp50) when propofol was solely target controlled infused; the 50% effect-site concentration of remifentanil for success of abortion surgery (ECr50), the 50% effect-site concentration of remifentanil for respiratory depression(RCr50), and the therapeutic index of remifentanil (TI) when remifentanil was used combined with propofol at a given concentration (5.2μg/ml), and evaluated the efficacy and safety of two methods of general anesthesia which had mentioned above. By this way, we get near approach to the final determination of the optimal combination concentration of propofol and remifentanil.Methods90 ASA I female patients, aged 1835 years old, with the body mass between 18 to 25kg/m2 , who volunteered to receive pregnancy termination under general anesthesia were asked to take part in the study. Patients were enrolled if they had been final diagnosed as intrauterine pregnancy with 610 weeks gestational age; and were excluded if they had experienced vaginal delivery before this gestation. In the first part of the study, the modified up and down was used to determinate the ECp50 to increase the precision of the final estimator. 40 patients were enrolled. In this modified up and down trial, the first effect-site concentration of propofol for induced abortion was 5.5μg/ml, and the interval test space was 0.5μg/ml. After 4 negative-positive changes of response type were observed,...
