ObjectiveTo investigate the relationship between the expression of telomerase activity and ovarian carcinoma and the value of telomerase expression associated with serum CA125 assay in early diagnosis of ovarian carcinoma. MethodsDuring the Mar.2002 to Feb.2004, the expression of telomerase activity was measured with RTQ-PCR and frezon ovarian tissue specimens in 20 cases of ovarian carcinoma,5 cases of ovarian benign tumor and 12 cases of normal ovary of nontumor gynecology. The serum CA125 levels was measured by radioimmunoassay in 20 cases of ovarian carcinoma before operation. The relationship between telomerase expression associated with serum CA125 and clinicopathological feature was analyzed.ResultsThe telomerase activity rate of 20 ovarian carcinoma (100%) was much higher than that in benign ovarian tumor tissues (20%) and normal ovarian tissues (0%) (p<0.001); There were no significance between expression of telomerase activity and histologic grade of ovarian carcinoma (P>0.05). In patients with clinical stageⅢ-Ⅳof ovarian carcinoma(347.14±60.10) was much higher than that in patients with clinical stageⅠ-Ⅱof ovarian...
