OBJECTIVE To clarify the therapeutic effects of total glucosides of paeony (TGP) in rat CIA according to the changes of secondary paw swelling, polyarthritis, body weight, and histological morphological of collagen-induced arthritis(CIA) in rat. Because rheumatoid arthritis(RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by synoviocyte proliferation, we attempted to investigate the roles of TGP playing in the expression of synoviocyte apoptosis related gene and immune functions and to elucidate the relationship between the synoviocyte proliferation and signal transduction pathways such as G-protein and MAPKs in IL-1β-induced FLS from rat with CIA. And further to analyze relationship between the effects of TGP on rat CIA and its relative mechanisms by which TGP affected the process of synoviocytes through these signal transduction pathways.METHODS The model of rat CIA was induced by injection of chicken type Ⅱ collagen(CCⅡ) emulsion. TGP (25,50, 100 mg · kg-1, ig, d14-d28) was administrated intragastric to CIA rats . The polyarthritis index was scored. Morphological changes of...
