Clinical Study Of Stereotactic Treatment Of Cystic Craniopharyngioma

Objective To evaluate the effects of stereotactic treatment of cystic craniopharyngioma, to review the experience in the treatment of cystic craniopharyngioma, according to a retrospective review of 170 patients with cystic craniopharyngioma who underwent stereotactic surgery.Methods 170 cases were operated by Leksell-D/G stereotactic appartus, including 24 cases of cyst punture,15 cases of cyst punture and bleomycin injection, 131 cases of cyst ventricle shunt.Results 169 cases have improved their clinical conditions. 135 cases were observed within 2 months～8 years postoperatively, in which 42 cases recurred, including 28 cases of cyst punture and 14 cases of cyst ventricle shunt.Conclusion Stereotaxy of cyst ventricle shunt is an effective and safe method to treat cystic craniopharyngioma, and cyst ventricle shunt is more effective than cyst punture, it is also more effective than cyst punture and bleomycin injection during a long time. But in urgent situation, cyst puncture is an acceptable method.
