Combination Of Stereotactic Surgery Or Microsurgery With Puncturting And Implanting Ommaya Into The Cyst And ～(32)P Interstitial Radiation For Treating Recurring Cystic Craniopharyngiomas

Objective To study the effective method of ³²P interstitial radiotherapy of the recurrent cystic craniopharyngiomas.Methods Combination of stereotactic surgery or microsurgery with puncturting and implanting Ommaya into the cyst,aspirating cystic fluid and ³²P interstitial radiation was performed in 10 patients of postoperative recurrent cystic craniopharyngioma.According to individual patient,phosphorus-32 was injected in cyst with different dosages from 1.9mCi to 6.3 mCi between 2 to 4 times.All cases were observed the clinical symptom and followed up from 6 months to 3 years.Result The clinical symptom of 10 patients were ameliorated in different degree.No cases suffered death or serious damages of nerves.Imaging examination showed cysts were decreased above 50 percent in 7 cases,tow of them were almost disappeared and decreased 33 percent to 50 percent in 2 cases.There is no any change in case 1.Conclusion The Combination of stereotactic surgery or microsurgery with puncturting and implanting Ommaya into the cyst and ³²P interstitial radiation can control the tumors successfully.
