IntroductionAlcohol drinking is very common in both Eastern and Western world, and the side effects of alcoholism have been widely investigated. The disorders of the gastrointestinal motility, including the nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, is the predominately side effect of acute ethanol consumption. It is well known that acute treatment of ethanol inhibits the gastrointestinal motility both in human and in experimental animals. The mechanisms involved in these inhibitory effects, however, are not clearly understood.
