Objective To study the effectiveness of umbilical artery pulsatile index (UAPI), ductus venosus pulsatile index(DVPI),renal artery pulsatile index (RAPI) in fetal sheep and values of pregnant sheep vasoactive intestial peptide (VIP),neuropeptide Y(NPY) in the fetal hypoxemia in a near-term fetal sheep model with intermittent umbilical cord occlusion(UCO). Methods Fetal Sheep were studied with umbilical cord occlusion performed in the experimental animal groups by complete in flation of an occluder cuff for 90 seconds every 30 minutes for approximately 2.5 hours.Fetal arterial blood and pregnant venous blood were sampled at 5 minutes before the first umbilical cord occlusion, and 3 minutes after each occlusion for blood gas and VIP,NPY measurement.Doppler measurement was performed 5 minutes before the first umbilical cord occlusion and 60 seconds after each successive occlusion. Result 1.The value of PH (from 7. 32±0. 01 to 7. 27 ±0. 01) and PaO2 (from 3. 46±0. 03 Kpa to 2. 89±0. 03 Kpa) were declined over the experimental period in UCO fetuses (both P<0.01),but PaCO2 (from 6.17 ±0. 06 Kpa to 6. 76+0. 05 Kpa) was raised as well as Doppler PI (UAPI from 0.49±0. 06 to 1. 02 + 0. 07, RAPI from 0. 97 + 0.10 to 1. 79±0. 32, DVPI from 0.33 + 0.04 to 0.70 + 0. 06, all P<0.05) and value of VIP(from 1.03 + 1.89 pmol/L to 16.69±8. 10 pmol/L), NPY(from 24. 83 + 20.16 pmol/L to 92.71 + 48. 72 pmol/L, both P<0.05). 2.There was a strong correlation between Doppler...
