Objective:To investigate the expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in laryngeal cancer, the relationship between COX-2 expression and the clinicopathological features,as well as the relationship between COX-2 expression and vascular endothelial growth factor-C (VEGF-C) and lymphangiogenesis.Methods:COX-2 and VEGF-C expressions were detected in 40 laryngeal cancer samples by immunostaining. Lymphanigogenesis was evaluated by immunostaining with the specific antibody LYVE-1. Quantitation of COX-2 and VEGF-C mRNA by RT -PCR was performed in 30 specimens of laryngeal cancer. Results: The expression of COX-2,VEGF-C and LVD were higher in laryngeal cancer than those in normal tissue by immunostaining( P < 0. 01). Increased expressions of COX-2,VEGF-C and LVD were significantly correlated with lymphatic metastasis and high TNM stage ( P < 0. 05).But there was no significant association between their expression and sex, T stage and grade of differation. The expression...
