"Chinese Digitized Virtual Human" is an advanced research field. Developed with combination of medicine and information science, it aims to visualize the structure and function of human body. The paper was aims to explore some applications of the dataset.Objective:1. to explore a feasible method for using sectional images of the right (in clinical, called healthy side) ear to reconstruct a digital model of the left (affected side) ossicular chain based on Virtual Chinese No.1 Female (VCHF) and to discuss the significance of computer-aided design the hydroxyapatite prosthesis for ossiculoplasty.2. to discuss the significance and the function of 3d-diagnosis and pre-operation surgical simulation within 3d model reconstructed based on the patient's images through simulating some surgical approaches of acoustic neuroma with which hearing can be attempted to be preserved using the digital model we reconstructed.Methods:1.Used the 3D-doctor software to reconstructed the right ossicular chain based on Virtual Chinese No.l Female (VCHF); then flipped all the sectional images horizontally along the vertical axis in Photoshop and reconstructed the ossicular chain model whose spatial relationships and orientation between the middle ear components belonged to the left.2. The 3D-doctor software was used reconstructing the structures that were important for these approaches; then used the measure tool of the software to simulate these approaches.Results and conclusions:1. The format of the model (STL or AutoCAD DXF) was compatible with the 3D-CAD software often used for computer-aided design (CAD), so this model could provide a digital model for CAM to shape and create the hydroxyapatite prosthesis for ossiculoplasty. The method was feasible and would promote the application of computer- aided manufacture (CAM) for surgery. Further more the ossicular chain is extremely small structures with complex shape; the successful reconstruction of the ossicular chain based on the VCHF dataset would facilitate this development of Chinese digital human research and provide some foundation for future research.2.
