BACKGROUNDThe failure of dental implants relates to many kinds of factors, and peri-implantitis is one of the main reasons. Peri-implantitis, which is a chronic progressive edge inflammation, is referred to peri-implant tissue pathology state and resulted in the loss of bone tissue around the implants . Peri-implantitis is similar to adult periodontitis, the bacterium in subgingival plaque and its productions are the start factor of peri-implantitis. Clinical research shows that: The bacterium of subgingival plaque of inflammatory and failed dental implants is similar to the bacterium of chronic periodontitis, and the periodontal bacterium lead to failing of implants. Animal experiment also verify that the accumulation of bacterium can cause destruction of peri-implant tissue. It would cause failure of dental implants if treatment is not in time.As the natural tooth, junctional epithelium and gingival crevicular also exist around dental implants. Studies have shown that the gingival crevicular of peri-implant has similarity with the natural tooth periodontium not only on form but also the biological characteristic. Some researches shows that the quantity and reconstituent of gingival crevicular fluid are relative to peri-implantitis and bone loss around dental implants , these indexes will rise obviously in inflammatory and failed dental implants. And this changes appear earlier than the changes of clinical manifestation and X -ray. Therefore the detection of status of peri-implant tissue is...
