The Effects Of Anti-epilepitic Drugs On The Epilepitic Rats Induced By Penicillin

[Objective] To explore the effect of the new anti-epileptic drugs: lamotrigine (LMG) and topiramate (TPM) on the behaviors and electroercephalogom (EEG) of epileptic rats induced by penicillin, and to explore the protection of lamotrigine and topiramate for the neurons of hippocampus too.[Methods] 30 health Spague-Dawley (SD) rats, the weight is 300±20g, divided into 5 groups randomly, every group is 6 piece. A normal control group: the rats were lavaged by 4ml/kg/d × 7 days of sodium chloride. B the group of epileptic rats induced by penicillin: the rats were lavaged by 4ml/kg/d×7 days of Sodium Chloride before seizure induced. C the group of the lamatrigine: the rats were lavaged by 25mg/kg/d× 7 days of lamatrigine before seizure induced. D the group of the topiramate: the rats were lavaged by 100mg/kg/d× 7 days of topiramate before seizure induced to be epileptic rats. E the group of the Sodium Valproate: the rats were lavaged by 500mg/kg/d × 7 days of Sodium Valproate before seizure induced. The EEG electrodes were implanted in right hippocampus and the right frontal lobe of each group, then let the rats had a rest of 7 days. The rats of each group were lavaged continuely with the same dose during this period. The epileptic rat mode is established by injected penicillin into the belly of the rats: 300×10~6u/kg of penicillin were injected into the belly of the rats of the epilepitic group of the group of the lamatrigine, the group of the topiramate, the group of the Sodium Valproate. The same Sodium Chloride were injected into the belly of normal control group for 3 days. After seizure induced, Epileptic rats induced by penicillin lavaged the same doses of Sodium Chloride, the rats of the group of the lamatrigine, the group of the topiramate, the group of the Sodium Valproate were give same doses of lamatrigine, topiramate, sodium valproate for 3 days.
