PrefacePrimary hypertension is a familiar cardiovascular disease , and its incidence rate is tending rise. The cause of primary hypertension are not entirely clear. The present studies have suggested that hypertension could be due to the occurrence of broken compensation for blood pressure control at complex environmental factor in some inheritance background . Nowaday, metabolic syndrome is becoming importance and has been the hot point of studies. Leptin seems to have closely correlated with insulin resistance, dysglycemia, dyslipi-demia and hypertension. The possible role for leptin in hypertension bring attention.Leptin, the product of the ob gene, is a peptide hormone produced by adipose tissue involved in body weight control through a food intake and an increase in energy expenditure. Several studies have shown leptin to increase in insulin resistant states such as obesity and hypertension. Hyperleptineamia maybe a part of metabolic syndrome. The study reported that in the animal models, chronic leptin infusion caused an increase in blood pressure and heart rate, suggesting a possible role for leptin in the development of hypertension . However, the precise relationship among the level of leptin and hypertension were not fully clarified in humans, and a causal relationship of each to blood pressure elevation has not been delineated. In this study, we hypothesize that serum leptin concentration is associated with blood pressure and insulin level. To determine the accuracy of this hypothe-...
