Objective To evaluate the efficacy of surgical therapy for lung cancer patients with brain metastasis. Methods The survival time and survival rates were analyzed retrospectively in 30 lung cancer patients with brain metastasis who were under various treatment including surgical resection. Results The median survival time and 1 year and 2 year survival rate in group 1 in which the patients received radical resection of both primary lung cancer and intracal metastatic tumours combined with radio-chemotherapy was significantly longer than group 2 in which the patients only received surgical resection either primary lung cancer or intracal metastatic tumours and the group 3 which is non surgical group (P<0.05).Conclusions In some cases, it's still an options in management of the lung cancer with intracal metastasis, to resect both primary lung cancer and intracal metastatic tumours combined with postoperative radio chemotherapy.
