OBJECTIVE: To establish a dog model for the study of alveolaraugmentation operation of dental implant with self-setting calcium phosphate cement(CPC) and calcium sulphate cement(CSC).METHOD: 4 healthy male mongrels and 32 implants were used to buildthe animal model. On the mandible margin, 8 implants(φ=3.3mm, L=11 .0mm) were embedded which the depth in mandible were 9mm. Bone annular defects of 2mm×2mm were prepared. The defects and the exposed implants were embedded by CPC/ CSC /CERASORB. Bone regeneration was observed by X-ray and histological examination.RESULT: No implant failed. CPC group, the generation rate of involucrum in 1 month and 4 months was 10.375±1.9955,33.125±9.2495, the distance from the top of the implant to the bone level was 0.4875±0.1126,0.625±0.1488; CSC group, the generation rate of involucrum in 1 month and 4 months was16.5±4.9281, 54.5±6.347, the distance from the top of the implant to the bone level was0.4875±0.1126,0.625±0.1488; CERASORB group, the generation rate of involucrum in 1 month and 4 months was24.625±3.5832, 57.625±5.6045, the distance from the top of the implant to the bone level was1.375±0.1669, 1.6125±0.1727; Blank group, the generation rate of involucrum in 1 month and 4 months was3.625±1.9955,15.5±4.6599, the distance from the top of the implant to the bone level was 4.4375±0.1598, 3.7625±0.1847.Parts of CPC and CSC were absorbed and replaced by new bone, the height of the alveolar was reduced little.CONCLUSION: CPC and CSC have better bone guided activity. Theycan be absorbed and taken the place of by mature new bone. And they can also be used in alveolar augmentation operation of dental implant.
