| Objective: To investigate the clinical and pathologic features of gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GIST).Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 27 patients with GIST treated in the Second Affliated Hospital of Nanchang University (from Jan 2001 to Dec 2005) .Results : There were 17 males and 10 famales with average age of 56 years. Tumors located in stomach in 18 cases (66.6%), jejunoileum in 7 cases (26.0%) , and duodenum in 1 cases (3.7%) , colon in 1 case (3.7%). All patients were treated surgically. 20 cases were in radical surgery and 7 cased in palliation. Histology diagnosed as benign tumor in 5 cases (18.5%), malignant in 15 cases.(55.5%), boderline in 7 cases (26.0%). Tumor size ranged from 2.0cm to 7.1cm. The size of tumors and karyokinesis were correlated with the malignacy of GIST significantly (P<0.05). The positive expression of CD34 and CD117 were 21 and 24 cases, the malignant case were 10 and 14. There was no significant difference in the expression of CD 34 and CD117 in benign versus malignant GIST(P>0.05).Conclusion : (1)Clinical symptoms for patients of GIST have no specific. (2) The positive rate of diagnosis will be raised by several techniques combined (3) Tumor size and karyokinesis are a predictor of the malignancy of GIST. (4) Local complete resection is the most efficient treatment procedure. (5) STI 571 adds new hope for the... |
