Objective: To analyze the efficacy in prophylaxis of deep venous thrombosis of lower extremity and promotion of bone fracture healing after application of intermittent pneumatic compression in patients suffering from fracture of lower limbs. Methods: 63 patients were divided into 3 groups: LMWH group(22),IPC group(19)and black control group(22); Color Doppler ultrasonic sound was used to detect deep venous thrombosis (DVT) after 2 weeks of postoperation. At the second and forth weeks after operation, blood of empty stomach was examined the activity of alkaline phosphatase (AKP) in blood and callus formation were studied with X-ray in 3 groups patients to evaluate status of bone fracture healing of lower extremity. Results : Deep venous thrombosis of lower extremity was found in 10 from 63 patients: LMWH group(1),IPC group(0), black control group(9). The incidence of DVT between LMWH group and IPC group have no difference (P>0.05) . There was a significant difference of the incidence of DVT between LMWH group and black control group and IPC group and black control group (P<0.05, P<0.01) ; At the first, second and forth week-s after operation the activity of serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) increased ,and , the activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in IPC group were higher than other two groups (P<0.05 P<0.05) ; At the first, second and forth week, it showed no significant difference of the activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) between LMWH group and black control group. There was no significant difference of the number of bone callus formation in 3 groups at 2 weeks .The number of bone callus formation...
