In the year of 1929, the discovery of antibiotics--a wonder drug--has greatly lowered the death rate and incidence rate of infectious diseases. The period from 1940's to 1970's is considered to be the golden ages of antibiotics. But, after half a century for clinical application, infectious diseases caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria had occurred constantly. It has been the world-wide problem in anti-infectious field of medical science. Bacteria's resistance to antibiotics leads to the failure of therapy, the increase of incidence rate, death rate and medical cost. Meanwhile the kinds of medicine used have also increased. Penicillin G, which is used as the first choice drug in Paediatrics in the very beginning, has been resistant to a great quantity of pathogenic bacteria. Pedo-antibiotic treatment has changed from penicillin G in the past into cephalosporins as first choice now. It accords with literature reports. With the wide application of the third generation cephalosporins in recent years, G_ bacillus's resistance rate is increasing constantly. Therefore the study of bacterial resistance mechanism is quite significant. The People's Hospital of Hainan Province is the biggest comprehensive hospital in Hainan Province. It has far-reaching sense to investigate the usage of antibiotics and the bacteria's resistance in Paediatrics of this hospital, and to study resistance mechanism of drug-resistant bacteria. This experiment consists of the following three parts: the investigation of application situation of antibiotics in Paediatrics of the People's Hospital of Hainan Province; the epidemiologic research of distribution of pathogenic bacteria's...
