Objective Topiramate(TPM), 2, 3: 4, 5-double-o(1-methylic ethidene) —B—D—fructofuranose of sulfamic acid, is a monosaccharide. It is a new type of anti-epileptic drug with peculiarly construction derived from D-fruct-ose. It is a white crystal powder. The anti-epileptic effects of topiramate in animal experiment and clinic have been confirmed. In the stuy, the rats were pretreated with TPM. We observed the effects of topiramate on ultrastru-cture and the expression of caspase-3 and bcl-2 in hippocampus CA3 subar-eas in rats following kanic acid(KA) induced status epilepticus through peritoneal injection of kanic acid in order to explore the possible protection m-echanism of topiramate.Methods1. Experimental animals and theirs grouping: Healthy adult male Wistar rats were randomly divided into Group KA and Group TPM. For groups of KA and TPM , every group was subdivided into four subgroups to use at3 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours and 48 hours after status epilepticus(SE). Ever-y subgroup had twelve rats; Except above rats, took twelve ones else as G-roup NS.2. Pretreated with TPM and SE was ignited: The group of TPM was 1...
