Objects:To observe the clinical effect of photodynamic therapy(PDT) with hematoporphyrin monomethyl ether(HMME) as photosensitizer and copper vapor laser as light source in the treatment of port wine stains(PWS); to analyze the influence of different age and sexes of patients, different types, sizes and locations of the lesions on clinical effect.Methods:52 patients with PWS were treated with HMME and copper vapor laser in PDT. Children patients were irradiated by copper vapor laser with power densities 80mW/cm~2 after 4mg/kg HMME intravenous injection; adults patients were irradiated by copper vapor laser with power densities 100mW/cm~2 after 4.5mg/kg HMME intravenous injection. The patients were followed up to assess the clinical effect and analyze the relations between clinical effect and age, sexes, types, sizes and locations of lesions. By statistical analysis, the influential factors on clinical effect were found out. All the data were analyzed by the software SPSS 11.5 statistically. Results:In the follow-up to 52 patients with PWS, 2 cases were lost. In the 50 cases, there were 8 cases (16%) evaluated as excellent, 18 cases (36%) evaluated as good, and 16 cases(32%) evaluated as fair. The general effective rate was 84%. According to the results of Spearman rank correlation analysis, the correlated factors with...
