Objectives:1. To confirm the presence of myofibroblasts in ovarian theca layer in ovulation2. To study how myofibroblasts play its role during ovulationMethods:.1 .Tissue of rat ovary was obtained from 30 healthy sexually mature non-mated femal SD rats. The rats were divided into two groups(oestrus group n=20 and anoestrus group n=10).The expression of α-SMA, desmin,vimentin,ET-AR and ET-BR in the theca cells of different follicle types were detected and evaluated by immunohistochemistry and image analysis system.2. Electron microscopy was used to observe the ultrastructure of antral follicles in oestrus group (n=8).Results:1 .Immunohistochemically, in oestrus group, α-SMA, desmin and vimentin were expressed in theca cells of different follicle types. Their expression intensity in the theca cells of large antral follicles was higher than that of small antral follicles and preantral follicles ,a statistical significant difference was found among the three follicle types (P<0.05), The follicle size and α-SMA and vimentin expression intensity were both positively correlated(r=0.631 and 0.536 ); ET-AR was expressed in theca cells of large antral follicles and small antral follicles, a statistical significant difference was found between the two follicle types (P <0.05);...
