The Clinical Research Of Asmeton Union ICSs In Treating Cough Variant Asthma

Objective: To study the clinical feature of cough variant asthma and the curative effect of Asmeton union ICSs in treating cough variant asthma (CVA).Methods: Review clinical data of 38 cases of cough variant asthma and divide them into two groups in random. Treat the therapy group with asmeton and ICSs, and compare the curative effect with the control group which was treated with only ICSs.Results: Clinical manifestation: nonproductive cough ( 37 cases), complicated with slight productive cough(12 cases), accompanied by chest distress (5 cases), some cases were accompanied by a throat itching, eye itching, nasal obstruction, running nose, weep, flustered or short breath. Chest ausculatations and chest X-ray examinations didn't show the apparent abnormalities in all the cases. FEVl<70% and bronchodilate test were positive in 35 cases. FEVl>70% and bronchial provocation test were positive in 14 cases. There are 4 cases for clinical control, 20 cases for utility,2 cases for relieving, 1 case for nullity in the therapy group. And the rate of effective is 89%. There are 1 case for clinical control, 13 cases for utility, 5 cases for relieving,3 cases for nullity in the control group. And the rate of effective is 64%. There is statistical significance between the two groups (P<0.05 ) (table 1) . The PEF% and peak expiratory flow rate variability ( PEFR) after treating are improved obviously (P<0.05)(table 2). The adverse effect of asmeton are dizziness, cardiopalmus and so on. It appears in two cases. But it disappears after drug withdrawal. Conclusions:1.CVA is a special form of asthma in which cough is the main clinical manifestation. Inhaled corticosteroids of small dose is the principle of its therapy. But it always spends about 1 weeks to control part of the symptoms of cough. And the cough will disappear completely after 1 month.2.Asmeton can relieve the cough of asthmatic attack in earlier period. And it is beneficial for eliminating phlegm. The curative effect of asmeton union inhaled corticosteroids is fine, and the adverse effect is few.3.We can use asmeton and inhaled corticosteroids in the first two weeks, then withdrawl asmeton after relieving the cough symptom and continue to use ICSs only.
