Objective To investigate the value of 16-slice spiral CT perfusion in evaluating the changes of hepatic blood flow in patients with liver cirrhosis. Methods Dynamic 16-slice spiral CT of liver was performed in 37 participants, including 25 patients with liver cirrhosis and 12 patients without liver disease (control subjects). In accordance with the Child-Pugh classification, 11 patients were classified as Child A, 8 with Child B, and 6 with Child C. By measuring the CT perfusion parameters of BF, BV and HAF in different groups, we want to find the characters of them and to evaluate the clinical application effects. Results A significant difference in BF, BV and HAF was seen in patients with liver cirrhosis compared to those without cirrhosis. MTT changes little in all the patients. We conclude, therefore, BF, BV and HAF are meaningful in the early diagnosis and the degree of liver cirrhosis. But the diagnostic criteria need further research. Conclusion The diversification of parameters can able to reflect the hemodynamic alterations in patients with liver cirrhosis, so, CT perfusion imaging has significant clinical value: 1. CT perfusion imaging is helpful in the early diagnosis of liver cirrhosis.2. CT perfusion imaging is valuable in evaluating the degree of liver cirrhosis.3. To increase the early diagnostic ratio of primary hepatic cancer. 4. To assess the hemodynamic alterations in Portal Hypertension caused by medicine, surgery or intervention. In a word, 16-slice spiral CT perfusion imaging is valuable for evaluating the hepatic perfusion. In this method we may obtain the exact information of hepatic hemodynamic alterations in a most natural state. It is therefore a helpful method in the treatment plan selection and prognosis. Besides that it can also be widely used in clinic because of its good reproducibility and operability.
