Expression And Clinical Significance Of MIF In Endometriosis

Objective:As one kind of cytokine,concerned with inflammation and immune respons,MIF plays an important role in the cell growth and differentiation.Our research is to observe the expression of MIF in the tissue of normal endometria , in ectopic and eutopic endometria of endometriosis ,to explore the correlation between the expression of MIF and the effect to the occurence and progress of endometriosis,and to provided the new path in diagnose and therapies of endometriosis.Methods: To select randomly 50 cases of endometria specimen who were operated at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University in Mar,2005-Oct,2006.Patients with endometriosis with a mean age of 34.5(range 24-46) include 50 with endometriosis.Ectopic and eutopic endometrial tissues were obtained (24 in the proliferative phase and 18 in the secretory phase;10 in endometriosis with infertile ,30 in endometriosis with infertile;).In endometriosis, stageâ… -â…¡were 17 and stageâ…¢-â…£were 33,which classified as to repaired AFS.28 normal endometrium were selected through endometrial curettage from volunteers without gynecologic diseases at the same time.Patients with mean age 37.5(range 28-49) . All patients had not received either chemotherapy or radiation therapy before surgery.The expression of MIF wasdetected by immunohistochemis-trical SP method.Results:1. There was no difference in age from all groups.Age as a mixed factor was excluded.2. The expression of MIF in eutopic endometria of endometriosis:The positive expression of MIF in eutopic endometria of endometriosis was 52.38%,was significantly higher than the expression of MIF in the normal endometrium(X2=3.889,p<0.05).The positive expression of MIF in the proliferative phase of endometriosis was37.50%,in the secretory phase of endometriosis was72.22%.The expression of MIF in the secretory phase of endometriosis was significantly higher than the proliferative phas(eX2=4.972,p<0.05).3. The expression of MIF in ectopic endometria in endometriosis:The positive expression of MIF in eutopic endometria of endometriosis was74.00%, which was significantly higher than the expression of MIF in eutopic endometria of endometriosis(X2=4.638,p<0.05).4. The expression of MIF was associated with clinical stage: The positive expression of MIF in endometriosis inâ… -â…¡stage was52.94%,â…¢-â…£stage was 84.89% . The expression of MIF inâ…¢-â…£stage was significantly higher than inâ… -â…¡stage(X2=4.394,p<0.05).There was a positive relation between the expression of MIF and clinical stage.5. The positive expression of MIF in the endometriosis with infertile :the positive expression of MIF in the endometriosis with infertile was 80.00%,without infertile was 43.75%.The expression of MIF in the endometriosis with infertile was significantly higher than without infertile(X2=4.014,p<0.05).6. The positive expression of MIF in the endometriosis with menorrhalgia : the positive expression of MIF in the endometriosis with menorrhalgia was 63.33%,without menorrhalgia was 25.00%.The expression of MIF in the endometriosis with menorrhalgia was significantly higher than without menorrhalgia(X2=5.064,p<0.05).Conclusions:1. MIF has expression in the normal endomerium and the eutopic and ectopic endomerium of endometriosis, so MIF plays an important role in the the occurence and progress of endometriosis.2. The expression of MIF in eutopic endometrium was between in ectopic and normal endomerium . Eutopic endometrium has diffenent characters from normal endometrium.This proves"the theory of eutopic endometrium determination".3. The expression of MIF was associated with clinical stage,the earlier clinical stage of endometriosis,the fewer the expression of MIF.These reveal that MIF possibly involves progression of endometriosis.4. The higher expression of MIF in the secretory phase ofendometriosis reveals that progestogen may inhibit the endometriosis secreting MIF.The progestogen may control and cure endometriosis.5. The positive expression of MIF in the endometriosis with infertile was significantly higher than without infertile .This indicates that MIF maybe play a role in occurrence of infertile ,and provide a new way to cure the infertile of endometriosis.6. The expression of MIF in the endometriosis with menorrhalgia was significantly higher than without menorrhalgia, this indicates that MIF may be a factor of endometriosis with menorrhalgia.
