Objective To study the relationship between plasma adiponectin and the expression of complement regulatory proteins CD55,CD59.Methods Forty nine consecutive patients with hyperlipidemia were recruited in this study, and twenty six healthy people matched in terms of age, sex and body weight as controls. The expressions of CD55 and CD59 on white blood cells were detected by flow cytometry and, plasma adiponectin level was assayed by ELISA. The relationships between CD55, CD59, and plasma adiponectin, blood lipids, inflammatory factors were analyzed. Results The mean fluorescence intensity (MFI) of CD55-positive lymphocytes and the plasma level of adiponectin were decreased significantly in patients with hyperlipidemia compared with control (2.06±0.27 vs 2.26±0.52, P =0.027) and [5.08(1.07~17.5)mg/L vs 10.23 (3.98~28.23) mg/L, P=0.001]; CD55 positive lymphocyte MFI was negatively correlated with BMI, waist circumference, waist-hip ratio and high sensitivity C-reactive protein(P < 0.05 ) , and positively with adiponectin (P=0.012) . Furthermore adiponectin was independent predictor of lymphoctes CD55 expression. CD55 positive monocytes MFI was also positively correlated with adiponectin (P=0.01) .Conclusion The plasma level of adiponectin was decreased significantly and the expression of CD55 was down-regulated in patients with hyperlipidemia, its concentrations were positively correlated with Adiponectin. Adiponectin might regulate the expression of complement regulatory protein CD55.
