Objective:To determine whether exposure of male rats to testosterone excess would induce elevated androgens and insulin resistance. To observe the effects of Cryptotanshinone on the androgens and insulin. Methods: Prenatally androgenized male rats were produced by injecting pregnant wistar rats with testosterone propionate for 3days.Serum concentrations of T, 17-OHP and insulin were measured by RIA.The rats were fed with Cryptotanshinone for 14 days. Then to compare the serum concentrations of T, 17-OHP and insulin with previous.Results:1.There were no differences between the male groups in serum levels of T,but the 17-OHP and FIN levels were elevated significantly:PA: 1.66±0.30, 9.50±1.10*, 3.20±0.26Δ;C: 0.76±0.05, 1.09±0.57*, 1.66±0.36Δ;P<0.05 (*hCG3d;ΔhCG4d).2.Cryptotanshinone could lower the levels of 17-OHP,no effect on T.B: 1.66±0.30, 9.50±1.10*, 3.20±0.26Δ;A: 0.20±0.07, 3.03±0.90*, 0.62±0.15Δ; P<0.05(*hCG3d;ΔhCG4d).3.The Cryptotanshinone's effects on insulin was not significantly. Conclusion: PCOS is a familial disease ,affected sisters of women with PCOS demonstrate pyperandrogenism and metabolic deficits. This study has been found that Prenatally androgenized male rats exhibit elevated 17-OHP and diminished insulin sensitivity. The Cryptotanshinone could affect the 17-OHP,but no effect on insulin.
