| Rheumatoid arthritis ( RA) is one of the serious chronic diseases which threats public healthy in the world and the mechanisms of it are complicated.Simiao Pills have good effects of treating RA.This reseach is to carry on a deep study on anti-inflammation, immunoregulation and treatment mechanisms on RA of Simiao Pills.Objective: study the mechanisms of Simiao Pills on treating RA.Methods: take adjuvant induced arthritis rats as experimental models, treat with Simiao Pills and Tripterygium Glycosides in different groups. Observe the paw swelling, press- resisting index, thymus and spleen index, pathology change in arthritis, and the expressions of IL-1β, TNF-αand VEGF, explore the function of anti-inflammation, immunoregulation and treatment mechanisms on RA of Simiao Pills.Results:(1) Simiao Pills have obviously effects of the treatment of inflammation, paw swelling, the press-resisting index and it can also relieve the synovial inflammation and hyperplasia and the destruction of joint cartilage.(2) Simiao Pills can down-regulat the expressions of TNF-α, IL-1β, improve RBC natural immunity, suggesting that excerts Simiao Pills its anti-RA by inhibition of TNF-αand IL-1βand improvement of RBC natural immunity .(3) Simiao Pills can inhibit the production of pannus through down-regulation of the expressions of VEGF in synovial tissue and decrease the growth of new vessels. Conclusions : Simiao Pills have the effects of anti-inflammation and immunoregulation.Its mechanisms may be related to inhibition of expressions of CK and VEGF and improvement of the immunological function of RBC.
