Objective:To observe the effect of BuPiYiChang decoction on the serum level of Superoxide Dismutase(SOD),Maleic Dialdehyde(MDA),intestinal mucosa main morphology and pathological histology and Disease Activity Index(DAI)in mice model of UlcerativeColitis(UC).And to explore the mechanism of BuPiYiChang decoction in treatment of UC.Methods:One hundred male kunming mice were randomly devided into five groups:normal control group,model group,SASP control group,low-dose BuPiYiChang decoction group,high-dose BuPiYiChang decoction group.Except normal control group mice,UC model was established in other mice by drinking freely 4%DSS for six days and distilled water for ten days. When the model was established successfully,model group mice were sacrificed,their blood and intestines were collected;other mice were treated with different medcines,after ten days ,all the mice were sacrificed ,too,their blood and intestines were collected to detect the serum level of SOD and MDA and observe the histological mucosa changes by optical microscopy and measure DAI.Results:Compared to normal control group ,the serum level of SOD in the mice of model group was significantly lower(P<0.01)and the serum level of MDA was significantly higher(P<0.01),and the grade of intestinal mucosa main morphology was significantly higher(P<0.01), and the injured level of the intestinal mucosa was severe in pathological histology. DAI was significantly higher(P<0.01),but after the model mice were treated with BuPiYiChang decoction for ten days there was no statistics difference in the serum level SOD between normal control group and high-dose BuPiYiChang decoction group(p>0.05 ),and the serum level of MDA was statistics difference between model group and high-dose BuPiYiChang decoction(P<0.01),and the grade of intestinal mucosa main morphology was significant difference between model group and high-dose BuPiYiChang decoction(P<0.01), and pathological changes of intestinal mucosa was significant between high-dose BuPiYiChang decoction group and model group,and significant statistics difference(P<0.01) in DAI.Conclusion:We make successfully mice model of UC with drinking freely DSS,their pathological changes are very similar to people with UC. Oxygen Free Radical(OFR) injure is a important factor induced UC. BuPiYiChang decoction can scavenge significantly OFR and against oxidize.It also reduce notably DAI and have improved pathological changes of mice with UC.It has been verified that BuPiYiChang decoction is a effective medicine to the treatment of UC by experiment.
