[Objective]Observed the morbility of the essential hypertension patients combined with abnormal glucose metabolism in the Cardiovascular Medical Department of First Affiliated Hospitalof Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, explored syndrome type of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) of essential hypertension with glucose metabolic abnormality, give the TCM treatment for the disease with theoretical basis, Offer reference to the combined treatment of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine.[Method]The study is the prospective controlled clinical trial. Collect the patients in Heart Medical Department of first affiliated hospital of Guangzhou university of traditional Chinese medicine Who admitted to the essential hypertension disease unknown blood glucose should take the orally glucose tolerance test (OGTT), while the known record blood glucose of fasting plasma glucose and leaving or random glucose. Observed the essential hypertension disease patients taking blood lipid, body mass index (BMI), family history, smoking and drinking. analyze the establishment of a group of essential hypertension disease and a group of essential hypertension disease with glucose metabolic abnormality. Explored pathogenesis of the latter in traditional Chinese medicine, focusing on their type of Chinese medicine syndrome explored.[Re sults]Collected 111 eases of essential hypertension disease patients, 71 of which combing with glucose metabolic abnormality, accounting for 64.0%, 18.9% of the 111 subjects were newly diagnosed diabetic patients, 26.1% of the 111 subjects were newly diagnosed impaired glucose resistance patients. 44.4% of the subjects which take the OGTT had isolated 2hr postchallenge hyperglycemia only. If only take the fasting plasma glucose (FPG), will miss diagnosis all the IGT patients, 27 cases, and will missed diagnosis 85.7% of all the subjects whom were newly diagnosed diabetic mellitus. In the syndrome type of the Chinese Medicine, we found the morbility of "deficiency of both vital energy and yin and stagnation of blood" in the Abnormal Glucose Metabolism patients were obviously higher than the merely essential hypertension patients(P＜0.05). Compare the complexed syndrome type, stagnation of bloodsyndrome, phlegmatic hygrosis syndrome and damp-heat syndrome in the abnormal glucose metabolism patients were higher than the merely essential hypertension patients butonly have the stagnation of blood synd-rome in twoth sets of of relatively show the significant difference (P＜0.05). Compare the asthenia and sthenia syndrome type in essential hypertension with abnormal glucose metabolism and merely essential hypertension, the essential hypertension patients with abnormal glucose metabolism show the signs of "symptom of state of evil domination" obviously, the morbility of the sthenia syndrome in the essential hypertension with abnormal glucose metabolism higher than the merely essential hypertension (P＜0.05). Often express in the sthenia syndrome two kinds or more than two of the syndrome, but the syndrome of the one is seldom seen.[Conclusion]Most of the essential hypertension patients with abnormal glucose metabolism in the Heart Medical Department, essential hypertension patients with abnormal glucose metabolism had much show isolated postchallenge hyperglycemia only. If only pay attention to it's fasting plasma glucose, will missed diagnosis most of all the subjects whom were newly diagnosed diabetic mellitus in the essential hypertension patients in hospital. In the syndrome type of the Chinese Medicine, essential hypertension patients with abnormal glucose metabolism sufferer to often express for deficiency of both vital energy and yin and stagnation of blood.
