Objective: To study the diagnostic value of high frequencyultrasound, mammography combined with fine needle aspirationcytology in breast cancer and to evaluate its diagnostic accuracy.Method: Seventy-three female patients with breast cancer wererandomly selected in this study, average age 45.8 year old, andall patients were confirmed by means of surgery and pathological.examinations. All the patients were examined by high frequencyultrasound and mammography within one week before operation. The size, internal echo and blood signals of the lesions wereobserved in all patients. All the patients were examined by fineneedle aspiration, 10ml syringes in a holder were used with sevengauge needles. Results: Compared with the pathological findings and patientsclinical follow-up, the lesions were demonstrated breast cancer in61 cases by High frequency ultrasound, eight cases weremisdiagnosed benign lesions, nature of the lesions in four caseswere undetermined, the coincidence rate was 83.6%;Mammography revealed breast cancer in 58 cases, the coincidencewas 79.4%, twelve cases were misdiagnosed benign lesions, threecases were undetermined; and that of fine needle aspirationcytology was 78.1%, eleven cases were detected, five cases weresuspected. When high frequency ultrasound, mammography andfine needle aspiration cytology were combined together, theaccuracy was 95.9%, and the difference is significant. (P<0.05).Conclusion:1. For the diagnosis of breast cancer, high frequency ultrasound, mammography and fine needle aspiration cytology were usefuldiagnostic methods with high value of breast cancer respectively, there was no significant difference among them in diagnosticaccuracy of breast cancer, but they all have their own advantageand defect. 2. In this study, high frequency ultrasound was better thanmammography and fine needle aspiration. We think that themethod was one of the first considered diagnosis on breastcancers for its lack of radiation, harmlessness to patients andoperator, convenience and repeatability.3. High frequency ultrasound, mammography combined with fineneedle aspiration cytology can increase the diagnostic accuracyof breast cancers, breast cancer can be early found and theaccuracy for detection of breast cancer can be improved.
