OBJECTIVE: To discuss the value of liquid-based cytology producertechnology in thyroid fine needle aspiration cytology.METHODS: To identify the difference between liquid-based cytologyproducer and traditional smear producer tested in81patients with thyroidnodules, whom underwent surgical treatment and with Histopathologicaldiagnosis as gold standard.RESULTS: Liquid-based cytology smear compared with conventionalproducers: Clear the blood cells and inflammatory cells and glial component, making smears background clearly; cells were evenly distributed; nucleusmore convex and three-dimensional sense of enhanced; diagnostic number ofcells increased. The diagnostic accuracy rate of liquid-based cytology inThyroid nodule was92.60%, the traditional smear producer was86.42%.Thesensitivity and specificity of Liquid-based cytology and traditional smearwere85.00%VS75.00%and95.08%VS90.16%. The difference wasstatistically significant.CONCLUSION: liquid-based cytology producer can effectivelyimprove the preoperative diagnostic accuracy of thyroid cancer and fine-needle aspiration smear quality. In addition more accurate assessment ofthe value of surgery to reduce unnecessary surgery, and then to reduce theburden on the patient.
